Coco peat is the ''coir fiber pith'' or ''coir dust'' producedas a bi-product when coconut husks are processed for the extractionof the long fibers from the husk. It is a natural, and renewableresource produced from coconut husks by the coconut industries inIndia, Sri Lanka & Indonesia. Coco peat is a multi-purpose soilconditioner and growing medium. It is consistent and uniform intexture. It is a completely homogenous material composed ofmillions of capillary micro-sponges, that absorb and hold up to 8times it''s own weight in water. The natural pH of 5.7 to 6.5, plusan unusually high exchange capacity assures that coco peat willhold and release nutrients to the plants over extended periodswithout rewatering.
